Hale Apple Farm is a legacy 10-acre orchard from the heyday when there were so many apple farms in Sebastopol it was know as the ”Gravenstein Apple Capital of the World”. Today wineries surround this historic orchard that was established in the 1860s.

This week we are taking in the fall colors at the orchard of Hale Apple Farm in Sebastopol, California. Foodies, farm enthusiasts, and fans of this radiant season will find this to be the perfect autumn outing in wine country.  Hale Apple Farm is a legacy orchard from the heyday when Sebastopol was known for its apple growing agriculture community -- then celebrated as the “Gravenstein Apple Capital of the World." Now only a handful of apple orchards remain in a region currently celebrated for its winemaking. Since the 1860s, the Hale family has been growing apples on their farm. Dave Hale continues selling his delicious in-season apples at his orchard’s farm stand and at regional farmers' markets in San Rafael and San Francisco.

With over 40 varieties of apples, you will be sure to find the perfect apples for your charcuterie board, apple pie, or seasonal snack. How about an apple tasting along with your wine and cheese? At Hale Apple Farm you will find unusual varieties of apples not available in your local supermarket as well as beautiful varieties of pumpkins and gourds that grow among the orchards. From their many varieties of apples along with their pumpkin harvests, you will find robust seasonal offerings that are both a feast for the eye and pallet. A visit to the orchard is the perfect family destination for a fall outing or stop before or after your winery tour. Open seasonally from August through November from 9am to 5pm daily at 1526 Gravenstein Highway in Sebastopol: 707-823-4613. There is no website so you’ll need to make that old fashioned, personal call for more information.
